I wanted to make a new Fantasy Football themed magazine that appealed to a broader section of players. As the game itself has exploded in popularity, the range of people playing has of course too. It's no longer just a game for jocks and number nerds, everyone can and does play it and when they do, it takes over life and becomes a lifestyle. On top of that, FF is a game within a game, so to know Fantasy you also need to know football. With 'PICKS' the goal was to have that in mind and appeal to Fantasy heads and more relaxed fans too. The name itself, 'PICKS' refers to of course the process of picking your players, and that's where it all begins. I wanted to stay on point with the fonts and colour scheme, and first of all I found a font called 'Touchdown' and another that emulated jersey numbers; those were no-brainers. The green itself is hex #567d46, also known as British Standard Grass Green. The font for the magazine itself was meant to be a very attractive font, a bit retro but readable. Also not to look like a mainstream magazine font as well. All the content was written by myself which was super fun and I really enjoyed pretending to write this magazine, down to the 'Brady 2 Gronk' article and the made up interview there too. From nothing, to something to everything this project shows a wide range of creative and technical skill that I really enjoy and look forward to doing more of in the future.
